According to BlackRock's ETF chief, Bitcoin is expected to surge higher under President-elect Donald Trump. Samara Cohen, the firm's ETF and index instruments chief investment officer, believes that cryptocurrency deregulation will drive Bitcoin to another record-breaking year.
Cohen oversees the firm's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which has seen a 114% increase since its launch in January 2024 and almost an 8% rise year-to-date. Despite Bitcoin briefly surpassing $100,000 this week, Cohen warns that cryptocurrency investors should brace themselves for volatility.
BlackRock recently announced the official launch of its iShares Bitcoin ETF on CBOE Canada, while Calamos Investments plans to introduce its Bitcoin Structured Alt Protection ETF shortly after Trump's inauguration. This new ETF boasts being the "world's first 100% downside protected bitcoin ETF."
The future price of Bitcoin will depend on the level and pace of adoption, according to Cohen. As the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve, investors should remain vigilant and expect fluctuations in prices.
