Olympian Rebecca Adlington overjoyed as she announces pregnancy one year after miscarriage heartbreak

Congratulations to Rebecca Adlington, who is pregnant with her third child!

The Olympic swimmer and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant is expecting baby number three with her husband Andrew Parsons.

They already share two children: eight-year-old daughter Summer and son Albie, two.

Announcing that their adorable family is set to grow once more, Rebecca, 34, shared the sweetest snaps from the happiest place possible.

Taking to Instagram, she revealed her pregnancy with pictures from Disneyland Paris, beaming while standing in front of the castle.

Wearing a Mickey Mouse t-shirt, the athlete couldn’t have looked more excited as her other half and their kids placed hands on her growing bump.

Her caption read: ‘Our own bit of magic ✨

‘Baby number 3 on the way ❤️’

Rebecca was inundated with messages of congratulations, with one fan writing: ‘Huge congratulations – fantastic news! X 🥳’

‘Such beautiful news! Congrats to all of you ❤️’, said another.

Fellow athlete Richard Whitehead added: ‘Congratulations matey’.

Rebecca and Andrew’s baby joy comes after she sadly suffered a miscarriage last year.

The sporting star required emergency surgery at the time and was treated for sepsis, a kidney infection, and fever.

Almost one year since making the heartbreaking announcement online, Rebecca reflected.

She admitted to feeling ‘responsible’ for what happened, despite understanding the devastating situation was beyond her control.

‘Because I’d had two children without any problems, a miscarriage never crossed my mind. I realise this might sound naïve, but I expected some signs,’ she told The Mirror.

‘I felt really responsible for the miscarriage, even though it wasn’t my fault. I remember speaking to the doctors and they said there was nothing I could have done to prevent what happened.’

Despite now being pregnant again, the gold medalist said earlier this summer that she wasn’t going to pressure herself to have more children.

She believed that her ongoing struggles with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) would affect her chances of conceiving.

‘It’s not easy to get pregnant,’ Rebecca continued. ‘I just don’t want to put loads of pressure on it or have any expectations.

‘Especially when people start asking every single month, “Are you pregnant?” I don’t want to deal with that while working full-time and having two kids.’

She concluded: ‘If it happens, it happens. If not, it’s not meant to be.’
